hi, i want to do something about my weak/double chin (which is present even at and below my ideal weight). i hear that the main solution when a small chin is contributing to the double chin is to get a chin implant. however my nose is quite small so i’m not sure if that would unbalance my face (i’m happy with my nose). based on my pictures, would a chin implant be too much and/or would fat removal be enough? (i’m really hoping fat removal would be enough as it seems like it would be weird having a foreign object in my face). or is there anything i haven’t thought of? (as long as it doesn’t require altering anything outside the chin/lips area as i like the rest of my face)
Answer: N your case, a chin implant seems like the most suitable permanent solution. You Are a Good Candidate for a Chin Implant In your case, a chin implant seems like the most suitable permanent solution. Chin implants provide a lasting change to the structure and shape of the chin. They make the chin more defined and aesthetically pleasing, especially if your chin is not prominent or if it is positioned further back. It enhances the overall symmetry of your face and provides a natural result in the long run. Alternatives like fat injection and submental liposuction (chin liposuction) are also options. Fat injection involves injecting your own fat into the chin area to restore lost volume. However, this method is not permanent, as some of the fat may be absorbed over time, meaning you may need follow-up treatments. Submental liposuction, on the other hand, permanently removes excess fat from under the chin. If there is a significant amount of fat buildup in this area, this method can be helpful. However, liposuction does not reshape the chin itself; it only removes the fat. If you're looking to improve the structure and projection of your chin, a chin implant offers a more permanent and effective solution. Ultimately, if you're seeking a more defined and aesthetically pleasing chin, a chin implant seems to be the most suitable option for you. However, to determine which treatment is best for you, it is essential to perform a physical examination. During the examination, we can assess the amount of fat in the chin area and make a clear decision on which options would be appropriate.

Answer: Double chin You could probably just do liposuction and leave the chin position as it is. You are correct that it's on the smaller side but your facial skeleton in general is small so unless you plan on doing a double jaw advancement, you're right that doing a chin implant or any kind of chin aug alone might look weird.

Answer: Chin implant You are an excellent candidate for a chin implant. It is done through an intra-oral approach and it is a foreign body but over time it becomes integrated into your self perception. I do not believe liposuction will make much of an improvement. A rhinoplasty is an alternative to give you a stronger nasal profile. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Neck liposuction may be considered for removing unwanted neck fat that causes a double chin. Neck liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that can be performed in the office with local anesthetic, and minimal inconvenience and downtime. If you are looking to achieve the maximum improvement in your jawline appearance, depending on your examination, a small chin implant may be helpful as well. Consider meeting with several reputable facial plastic surgeons who offer computer Imaging so you could see what to expect after surgery. Thank you for this question, and I hope it's helpful. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Sliding genioplasty A sliding genioplasty is a procedure that moves your natural chin forward to improve projection and balance your lower face. The surgery is performed in the office with intravenous anesthesia. No braces are needed and your bite remains the same. The surgery allows you to go home the same day and takes less than 1 hour. In some cases, we recommend simultaneous submental liposuction.
