Can I get Chin Filler with Chin Implant?

Question

I am looking to get a chin implant to improve the projection of my chin. After getting a silicon chin implant, can I still get chin filler on top of it or will this risk rejection/infection? I love the shape that chin filler can do which is not necessarily possible with implant

My priority is to make a decision together with the patient after a physical examination. Chin implant surgery is a permanent procedure. After it's done, whether there's a need for filler or not can be determined. However, it's generally not a procedure that requires filler afterward. In any case, if you want to have filler, your doctor needs to be informed regarding your chin implant surgery.

There should be no problem with receiving chin filler after getting a chin implant. You should be sure to inform the injector so they don't attempt to inject filler into the implant. The proper sterile technique using hypochlorous acid or something similar is advised. You may want to consider replacing the implant with a larger one if you feel there needs to be more projection.

Yes, it is possible to place a filler in the chin after placement of a chin implant.  The filler is normally placed more superficially than where the implant would be.  You should be sure to let the physician treating you know that you have a chin implant prior to a filler treatment.

Hello, hope you are well. This is a great question. Generally speaking, an appropriately shaped and sized chin implant (whether custom-made or preformed) will usually obviate the need for further dermal filler. Once an implant is in place injecting additional dermal filler does pose higher risk than it normally would in the absence of a silicone implant. Nevertheless, every case is unique and it may certainly be acceptable in certain situations. The most important thing is that you see a provider who really understands your individual anatomy (which would be your surgeon) and can minimize your risk of an adverse outcome.

Chin implants are manufactured in a large array of both sizes and shapes, which is determined by your surgeon prior to the surgery itself. Digital computer imaging can also be performed to give you an idea what your new result might look like. You should not need filler after it placement of a chin implant, but it would be acceptable to undergo filler placement underneath the dermis if ever needed.

You should be able to get fillers after having a chin implant. Some providers may be concerned about contamination. If the needle is also pushed into the silicon, then the injector will not be able to push filler through the syringe.
This is definitely something that each provider will have their own view one so I suggest you talk to your providers.
