Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photos, I note that you demonstrate relatively symmetric large sagging breasts. Your BMI is 20.68, in the normal range for height & weight. Breast reduction is both cosmetic and functional, as the procedure often alleviates neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain, bra strap grooving, and chronic rashes beneath the breasts due to their added weight. The reduction procedure is most often performed to regain proper body proportion. Are you attempting to obtain insurance coverage for your procedure? If so, many insurance carriers utilize the Schnur Scale to determine medical necessity. It compares the patient’s body surface area by the weight of breast tissue to be removed in surgery. If a patient’s body surface area and removed breast tissue weight are below the 22nd percentile, the surgery is considered to be a cosmetic procedure and is unlikely to be approved by a health insurance company. Alternately, if body surface area and removed breast tissue weight are above the 22nd percentile, the procedure has met the required criteria to be considered medically necessary. Your body surface area is ~1.7 meters squared, requiring 370 grams of tissue to be removed to meet the requirement. Coverage is likely if you have symptoms related to your heavy breasts as you will still be able to be either a C or D cup with room to spare. There is no "perfect size" as personal preference dictates YOUR desired size. Some practices utilize computer imaging to provide you with a rough idea of your desired outcome. In the northern US, a "C" cup is the norm. Here in Florida, a "D" cup is the norm. Best wishes...
