I advise my patients to wear glasses after 6 weeks. Wearing glasses before this time may implicate or hinder the final results.
Thanks for the question, I usually recommend my patients to avoid glasses for 6 weeks after surgery, but you also need to double check with your surgeon since each technique requires different post-op care.
I tell my patients for a month. But I understand it is life and some can't use / tolerate contacts, so sometimes after 1-2 weeks if you tape the glasses to your forehead that can be OK. It depends if you had osteotomy and what kind of it also.
Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process. Part of that process involves avoiding things you do day to day. This includes wearing your glasses. I like to ask my patients to hold off for 2 months. Even the lightest glasses can create a dent on your nose. Exceptions are patients who had nothing done to their bridge. They can go back to using their eyeglasses as soon the swelling calms down on their bridge. I also ask my patients to bring in their glasses so I can evaluate their weight. If you have any questions or concerns, bring them up with your surgeon so they can keep you on track for safe and happy result. Safety comes first.
If you have a nasal cast on it should be ok for you to wear your glasses. Timing is dependent on various factors that you should discuss with your surgeon that did your rhinoplasty as they may have specific instructions for you based on the techniques they used for your surgery. It is generally best to not put anything around your nose for 4-6 weeks at least, but this may vary based on the fractures that were done during surgery on your nose. Speak with your surgeon about his post-op instructions and specifically ask about when you can wear your glasses.
Hello, Thank you for your question. I would suggest to talk to your operating Surgeon about this. If you did not do anything to your bridge you should be fine to wear glasses, however, if you did then I would recommend not wearing them for 6 weeks. Please speak with your Doctor. We wish you the best of luck!
Immediately after surgery when the patient has a cast in place they can wear glasses. After that it will depend on what was done during the operation. If they did not change the bridge glasses will not be a problem. Otherwise I recommend that they avoid the pressure of even light glasses for about a month by taping the nose piece to the forehead with a narrow piece of tape. Having said that, follow the instructions of your surgeon.
