Hi, I feel like my eyes are round/almond. I want them to look longer and more almond shaped. Is there any surgery to make the inner corners wider?? Those eyes in the picture our my eyes now. Please help!!
Answer: Elongating inner corners of your eyes If you had not submitted a photo, I would have said that yes, there is a procedure to remove the epicanthal fold that blunts many East Asian eyes. This can definitely be done, although it can be at the cost of visible scars. However, in your case, you do not have a prominent medial epicanthal fold and I would not do anything. The space between your eyes should be the length of one eye, which it currently is. If you open that area up even a couple of millimeters on each side, you risk looking cross eyed and weird.

Answer: In South Korea, the perform a surgery like this but it is a failure. Their lateral canthoplasty attempts to advance the mucosal edge of the eyelid laterally. Unfortunately this violates anatomic planes and never works aesthetically. It damages the appearance of the eyes at best. Your issue is that you have upper eyelid ptosis. Fixing the ptosis will make the eyes larger. There is no substitute to a personal consultation with an aesthetic eyelid specialist.

Answer: Almond shaped eyes Thank you for your photo. I feel you already have beautiful naturally almond shaped eyes. The inner corners of your eyes do not have an epicanthal fold and any attempt to elongate your medial canthus (inner corners) will likely leave a small scar and may make your eyes appear unnatural and closer together. When looking at the eyes, there are two scleral triangles - the white triangle of the outer part of your eye and the white triangle on the inner part of your eye. If your inner triangle becomes the same or larger than your outer triangle, it will appear unnatural and misshapen. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MD Plastic Surgery
