Intense Burning after Lower eyelid blepharoplasty

Question

Its been 7 days since I had my surgery and there was some bleeding from left eye that started on 5th day, but the doctor said that it happens sometimes and will stop. But right from the 3rd day itself, I am getting this intense burning like someone has put acid in my eyes. It so intense that I am forced to close my eyes and some water comes out from both these eyes. During this burning period, the eyes turn blood red. But the doc says that there is no concern and I should just massage my eyes.

The symptoms you are describing may be because you are closing your eyes completely, yet. Discuss with you surgeon and/or see an oculoplastic specialist. It is very early in the healing process so improvement is expected. That's all I can say without at least seeing photos.

Typically the eye does not localize pain well.  Eye pain can be due to issues with the corneal especially when you can't keep the eye open.  Unless your eyelid surgeons is also a board certified ophthalmologist, they are in no position to examine the eye and determine the likely cause of the eye pain, let alone manage the issue.

Thank you for your question.  It is difficult to give a precise answer without photos or an in-person examination.  Common causes of post operative "burning" and/ or foreign body sensation are dry eyes or corneal exposure from the inability of the eyes to fully close during the healing process.  Consider using artificial tears and warm compresses over the eyelids, but most importantly, follow up closely with you doctor.  Best wishes.
