I've been trying micro-botox for pore reduction, on my nose and cheeks, for over a year now. I'm still not seeing results, but what I don't understand is - if the doctor is injecting my facial sweat glands, why do I continue to have such an oily nose and cheek area? Should I not have a more mattified result?

Answer: Micro-botox is a meso botox method described by Waffles Wu. It is a low dose botox method that targets the smooth muscles in the skin. Proponents claim effects on the skin including reducing oil production. However, these are just claims, not proven clinical benefits. This may account for why you are not seeing the result you were hoping for. Micro-botox should not be confused with the Microdroplet Lift® which is a botox method that delivers a standard botox dose to the brow area that causes a forehead lift effect without freezing the forehead.

Answer: Oily facial skin - other considerations Oily skin can be very difficult to control. Retinoid medications may be helpful in getting a handle on oil production. Chemical peels or microneedling could possibly provide some improvement as well. I recommend an in-person consult with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist.
