I permit my patients to shower the day after the operation. Your surgeon may not agree with this you should call his office for specific instructions.
Thanks for the question. After a Breast Augmentation surgery you can take a shower after 2 days. Then after this 2 days you should care to the surgery area in the shower. I wish you all the best.
Each board certified plastic surgeon may have a different protocol. This should be in their post operative instructions. We usually see patients back day 3 post op. They can shower after that. No submerging the wounds. We continue to follow and advise as the patient heals. Contact your board certified plastic surgeon and see what their particular protocol is.
I generally advise patients wait until the second day after their surgery before they start showering. Do not take a bath for 2 weeks.
Most surgeons will say that you are okay to shower the day after your breast augmentation, but it is best to call and ask your surgeon because everyone has different post op protocol.
This is a question that should've been addressed by your plastic surgeon at the preop visit. I let my patients shower the next day after surgery. Advise them not to use water that's too hot, since the breast skin might be numb and you do not want to end up with a scalding injury. Best is to ask your surgeon, since most have their own routine. Good luck.
While you should always follow the instructions of your surgeon, I have moved to allowing showering very quickly after breast augmentation. In particular, I "24-hour breast augmentation recovery plan" allows for earlier range of motion, activities, and showering.
Thanks for your question. In my practice I recommend not showering until after 48 hours post surgery for breast augmentation. Typically after the 48 hours I advise to shower with your back to the shower water in order to avoid direct water pressure to the incision lines. I keep my incisions covered with tan surgical tape of which should stay in place during showering. After showering I recommend to pat the tape strips dry and reapply the surgical bra. As always I do recommend following your plastic surgeons recommendations as they know what is best for your situation.
You should shower 48 hours after surgery completely. Get under the shower and use a liquid moisturizing soap, at this time is a very good bonding in the wound that does not allows the passing of water.
Dear Jessi,Thank you for your post. This is probably located somewhere on your discharge instructions. Each surgeon has a different preference on this. On my patients, I have patients sponge bath for 48 hours, then shower, but not bath after that. Bath only after I am happy with wound healing.Best Wishes,Pablo Prichard, MD
Normally a single dos of antibiotics at the time of surgery is sufficient. I normally don't prescribe post op antibiotics as a general rule. You should discuss your concerns with your surgeon.
This patient has brought up some interesting observations and questions which beg a good and satisfactory explanation. First off, I think its important to differentiate between widely spaced nipples and the distance between the inner edges of the breast, most often referred to as cleavage. And...
Hello! Thank you for your question! At 4 weeks, you are still very early in the postoperative period. Typically, it takes 2-3 months for swelling to fully resolve and the implants to fully settle into their pocket created. While they do appear to be quite high, remain patient....
