After repair, your ear lobe will change shape during the healing process. It is possible for it to develop a pointy appearance, but you must first ensure that the majority of healing is completed. I generally would not consider a revision until six months after surgery and after extensive scar therapy. If you do have a point to your ear lobe after all of these treatments, a simple revision is absolutely fine. I wish you the best!
Steps can be taken to avoid the pointy look. However, a minor revision should be all that you need to alleviate this issue. Talk to your plastic surgeon. I'm sure they will likely not charge you for a revision granted that enough time has passed since your initial repair. Take care and good luck.
Based upon the photo you have provided it is difficult to say for sure what is going on, but pointy ear lobes after ear lobe repair should be avoided by plastic surgeons.I repair a lot of stretched and gauged earlobe piercings, and I have found that in order to avoid the pointy look, tissue must be removed in both the vertical and horizontal directions from the ear lobe piercing. By doing this, a nice round look is produced. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your question.Yes, the earlobes can look pointy transciently but that usually corrects as the scar contracts. To be sure, return to see your surgeon and follow instructions.I hope this helps.
Generally speaking, the earlobe should be nicely rounded after repair. If it is truly pointed (difficult to see in foto), a minor revision might be required.
Earlobe repair is a great procedure to correct torn earlobes. It is hard to see from your photos what you are bothered by. Better photos would be helpful.
Split earlobe repair is :simple' but requires understanding of the soft tissue dynamic's when surgery is done.Frequently simple repair will result in pointy earlobe. However a plastic surgeon understanding the soft tissue of the earlobe can prevent this from happening. When this pointy configuration persists the it will require another surgery to repair.
Earlobe surgery is composed of several techniques that can either repair torn earlobes (split earlobes) or correct overly redundant earlobe tissue from piercings or genetics or stretching. Our HIDEF earlobe repair includes a recontouring of the earlobe contour using multilayered sutures to...
Pigmentation changes (color changes) can be caused by hormones (pregnancy--though I've never seen it in the earlobe) as well as repetitive trauma. The best place for you to start might actually be with a dermatologist or allergist/immunologist. Also, though it might be a challenge for you,...
