Hello,Each Plastic Surgeon will have their own preferred protocol to recommend after surgery but usually if you are no longer taking narcotic pain medication alcohol in moderation is safe. I advise patients to avoid medications and other substances which contribute to bleeding/bruising for two weeks post op. Check with your Plastic Surgeon to be sure,All the best!
Thank you for your question. I make the recommendation to my patients that after they have stopped taking any prescription pain medication that they may resume their alcohol use. There is no contraindication to drinking, assuming you have clearance from your physician, but because the effects are additive between the pain medications and alcohol, I feel it is safer to wait.
I allow my patients to drink an alcoholic beverage once they are no longer taking narcotic pain medications. 2 weeks after breast augmentation should be just fine!
Thank you for the question. I think that at two weeks, you should be OK to consume alcohol in moderation. This is as long as you are no longer taking pain medicine from surgery or other chronic medications that will interact with or conflict with alcohol. As always, best to consult with the plastic surgeon who performed your surgery to get his or her recommendation.Best of luck!
Thank you for your question. It is okay to consume alcohol after a breast augmentation but not immediately after surgery. Please ask your surgeon as he or she may have different instructions.
Hello Yani2015. In general, the answer is yes. However, each individual case varies in terms of safety and interactions with certain postoperative medications. You should probably ask your PS especially if you're still using any prescribed medications. Best, Dr. ALDO
When is it safe to resume alcohol following breast augmentation? Thanks so much for your question. Alcohol consumption in moderation following breast augmentation surgery is absolutely safe. You need to be off any pain medication prior to consuming alcohol. Remember that alcohol can cause vasodilation and it could slightly worsen swelling. It’s also important to drink in moderation which would be no more than one to two drinks for a woman.
Thanks for your inquiry. In my experience with surgery from residency through the present over the past 20 years and four distinct geophraphic locations--breast augmentation has been done mostly with general anesthesia. That does not mean someone has not devised a good approach that...
Hello, Everyone heals differently and redness at this point can be quite normal but do let your Plastic Surgeon know if you are experiencing pain or changes in the appearance. All the best!
Hospitals provide safe environments for patients, regardless of the procedure. It is hard to argue that an outpatient surgery center or doctor's office surgery suite is safer. Costs do vary depending on the facility but there are certainly cost effective hospitals, especially...
Recovery after a breast enhancement procedure can be very straight forward with the right surgeon. Precise technique with minimal trauma leads to little pain after surgery. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. I have patients wear a soft bra...
Also since ones body is healing and thereby using more calories than taking in, especially protein, your body's metabolism can be in a negative protein balance. This is normal, and one can be in a ketotic state. When you wake up after a night's sleep we all are in this. This too can be smelled...
Thanks for your question. Avoid wearing an underwire bra and add some padding in the incision area to avoid irritation from rubbing. Consult your surgeon about his/her specific requirements.Hope this helps,Dr. JSB
