Thank you for your question. That's a great question. As a 3M Micro Foam tape lover, this one makes me chuckle a bit. We use the tape to stabilize the position of the implant if the inframammary fold is worked on or to encourage more rapid descent if the implants are riding high because of tight tissues or large implants. Although it makes us feel better, there is little scientific evidence regarding its use. All the best!
Recovery after a breast enhancement procedure can be very straight forward with the right surgeon. Precise technique with minimal trauma leads to little pain after surgery. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. I have patients wear a soft bra after breast surgery for a few weeks along with micropore tape to splint the incisions. At that point the scars are generally very stable and we move to normal bras (or none) and long term scar management with silicone. Most important is a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon regarding this procedure. Don’t settle for less!
Thanks for your question. My preference is not to use micro foam tape so I can't describe the benefit. When I make my incision in the inframammary crease, I use a small steri-strip over the incision as the dressing. Then, I have my patients wear a support bra for one week to re-establish their natural crease under the breast. My patients seem very comfortable with this approach and appreciate the simplicity of post-op management.Best of luck to you.Dr. Ted Eisenberg
I occasionally use the micro foam tape to stabilize the position of the implant and the infra mammary fold. One of the draw backs is if its placed on the skin with tension it can cause blisters. There is no scientific evidence that taping does anything, but in some of our experiences it has worked well, so we continue to do it. So in conclusion, some use the tape and others don't. But that doesn't really matter, what matters is that you trust that your surgeon is trying to ensure that you have the best outcome . I hope this helps and best wishes.
Thanks for your question. The theory is that it will help prevent creasing of the garment and contour deformities. Hope this helps,Dr. JSB
Some surgeons tape breasts and others do not. On occasion I will use tape for bottoming out repair, etc..
Also since ones body is healing and thereby using more calories than taking in, especially protein, your body's metabolism can be in a negative protein balance. This is normal, and one can be in a ketotic state. When you wake up after a night's sleep we all are in this. This too can be smelled...
Thanks for your question. Avoid wearing an underwire bra and add some padding in the incision area to avoid irritation from rubbing. Consult your surgeon about his/her specific requirements.Hope this helps,Dr. JSB
Dear Catherine, Different surgeons have different policy in regard to return to work and you should consult with your surgeon and follow his or her's recommendation. Quite a few of my breasts augmentation patients are hair stylists. For that type of work, I allow my patients to return to...
Hi... Thank you for the question and photos.... It seems to be you are having a hypertrophic scar issue... I suggest you the use of silicone sheets to help reduce this
Thank you for your question. You could be allergic to your pain medications or your antibiotics. I would suggest you contact your operative surgeon and discontinue the medications. You can take Benadryl for the itching.Best of luck
Hi Sammy,Sorry you are in a dilemma. Maybe have your PS and Derm talk together. All the best, Dr. Joe
