Can I have a Revision Rhinoplasty after 7-8 months?

Question

I want to have my bride raised up where the dorsal hump was removed and the columella part lowered again and the tip made more bulbous again. This will be my second rhinoplasty. Is this a long enough wait time??? I don't want anything that extensive done. Thank you. I don't want to wait a full year with this nose and most of the swelling seems gone already- my nose feels quite soft and it has only been less than 3 months so far.

Hello m0kat,Thanks for your question.Most revision rhinoplasty specialists will require that you wait 1 year for your nose to completely heal before allowing another surgery to take place.It seems like you want your rhinoplasty reversed.  If this is the case, you may also be required to get psychological clearance ahead of time to ensure that you are coping well and would have the realistic expectations necessary to undergo successful revision rhinoplasty.Unfortunately you will need to be patient and let your nose get to its final form so that proper and safe revision rhinoplasty planning can take place.Good luck,Dr. Shah

I know that waiting can be very difficult, but waiting at least one year is in your best interest. Revisions performed prior to this point have a higher likelihood of complications

While the rule of thumb is 1 year for revision rhinoplasty surgery, there are some exceptions.  The best recommendation is to have an in person consultation with a board certified specialist who can evaluate you and assist you with achieving the goals you seek. 3-dimensional computer imaging can help you visualize what you may look like afterwards and serve as an important communication tool with your surgeon.

A revision rhinoplasty is more complicated than a primary rhinoplasty, so yes it is an extensive procedure. It's important to wait at least one year, since the healing process is not completed yet. Raising up the bridge with cartilage grafts and reconstructing the tip with additional cartilage grafting techniques is very complicated.  Choose your second surgeon wisely based on extensive experience after one year
