When do you remove silicone in rhinoplasty? Will it last forever?

I had a Rhinoplasty last 2009 and the surgeon put an L shape silicone. I didn't have any problems with it. No swelling , no redness or anything. It will be close to 10 years now and I was wondering if I need to remove it and put a new one? or just let it be. I just noticed that when my head hurts I can feel pain in my glabella or unibrow but other than that everything's fine. I'm just scared I might have an infection or anything. Do I need to worry ? Please let me know what to do. Thank you.

Slicone implants are permanent and as long as they are not causing problems such as extrusion or infection it is advised not to manipulate them.

Silicone implant in those, when to remove?  As long as you have no signs of infection and like the way your nose looks there is no reason to do anything.

This is a common question from patients who have had nasal implants placed in the past.  In general,  patients need to undergo revision because of complications such as implant migration, infection, or impending extrusion where the implant is about to come out the tip of the nose.  Because it is difficult to make any assessment without a proper evaluation, the best recommendation is to have an in person consultation with a board certified specialist who can assist you with a thorough evaluation of your nose and guide you.

As long as you like the look of the nose, and there's no infection, it's best to just leave it alone.  The Implant will last a lifetime, and does not need  to be replaced

Dear biorn, As long as you are happy with the aesthetic appearance of the implant and you do not have any signs of infection then you should have no need to remove it.
