Thank you for your question. Facial sculpting and contouring of the face can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra, which would give improvement in facial balance. Fat or implants are alternatives. Kybella is unsafe in some areas of the face but this has been used in my practice with results. Buccal fat pad removal is very easy to do surgically with minimal downtime, so I suggest seeing an expert for consult. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Kybella is FDA approved for treatment of submental fat. It is commonly used "off-label" on other parts of the body. With regards to the face, it may be used off label to treat the jowl fat. However, I do not believe it is safe to treat the buccal fat using Kybella. This is a deep fat compartment which when treated is usually done so surgically.
Kybella is not FDA approved for the buccal fat pad. The buccal fat pads are also deep within the cheek closer to the inside of the mouth. Buccal Fat surgery is a quick and easy way to remove exactly the amount of fat that you would like removed without any visible scarring. This can also be done awake. Kybella is less specific and the amount of fat dissolved cannot be accurately controlled. The recovery for both procedures is relatively similar. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Hi SRVE143, Kybella is FDA-cleared for submental fat. Off-label use includes parts where the fat is superficially located and where the likelihood of hitting blood vessels or nerves is nil. Definitely for buccal fat, the fat is more deeply located. There is also a big chance of producing uneven results.Best to go for surgery. All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
This is a good question. In general, most patients can use either one and get a good result. The downtime is what sets the two apart. Coolsculpting Mini is preferred by the majority because there's very little swelling and downtime associated with treatment and may even cost a bit less tha...
Liposuction is the easiest way to remove a buffalo hump, especially if it’s large. Buffalo humps contain dense fat and liposuction breaks that up with a tumescent solution. If the hump is very small and you don’t want any kind of downtime, then Kybella may be an option, but it would take a few...
The amount of kybella done per treatment will be determined based off the patient needs. Typically if I have a patient with a decent about of fullness under the chin I like to start with at least 2 vials and have the return with in 6 to 8 weeks to be reevaluated.I suggest asking what protocol t...
Thank you for your question. I find that VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF are best for contouring the chin in those who are candidates, but Kybella can be used as an alternative and gets better results when combined with thermage/ultherapy/exilis or coolsculpting. Kybella a...
Itchiness and numbness following Kybella injections are known side effects and generally disperse within a few weeks. Restylane injections are also known to cause swelling and bruising that may last for some time. However, experiencing these side effects in full at 12 weeks is unusual and may be...
I recommend following up with your Doctor about when you can restart taking your medication. Keep in mind, Kybella results can take up to 6-8 weeks and usually require a series of treatments. For best results with Kybella, I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. ...
