Please help! I had half a syringe of Volbella injected 6 hours ago mostly into my top lip and my lip has swollen up enormously! It feel hot and tender sore to move. Is this an allergic reaction? Is it infected? I am scared and not sure what to do. Thank you in advance for your advice
Answer: Swelling after lip injection Swelling is a very normal reaction to lip augmentation with filler. Applying ice will help. If it doesn't improve or you continue to be freaked out, call your injector and make an appointment to be seen in person.

Answer: Swelling after Volbella injection I hope you have called your doctor who injected you and have discussed this with him/her since you seem pretty scared. Swelling of the lips is common and expected after filler injections, especially after only 6 hours. I give my patients cold gel packs to take home and use on their face/lips for the first few hours to minimize swelling. Be sure you let your doctor know what is happening.

Answer: How to reduce swelling after Volbella? Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and congratulations on your lip augmentation! Swelling after filler placement into the lips is quite common due to the thin nature of the tissues. This swelling, and your results, will steadily improve over the next 10-14 days. It often takes up to 2 weeks for fillers to soften and the tissues to appear more natural. In the meantime try reducing the swelling by using cold compresses to your lips and elevating your head at night with a couple of extra pillows behind your back. You may want to also consider using Arnica Montana and bromelain as supplements. Hang in there!

Answer: How to reduce swelling to Volbella Volbella is a hylauronic acid filler using the Vycross technology from Allergan. Swelling occurs because hyaluronic acid attracts water producing swelling. I always make patients aware that they may have some swelling in the first 24 hours, and that this should go down. If your swelling is concerning, I would reach out to your health care provider to be seen and you may consider oral prednisone to decrease immediate swelling. If you are not satisfied with your final results, you can also have the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves the hyaluronic acid. I hope this helps! Dr. Mona
