Help! After my primary rhino my nostrils turned purplish. I always had some red and broken capillaries in this area but now it is much worse. It hasn't resolved in 4 months. Is it too late to try a hyperbaric oxygen chamber? I want a revision surgery and I'm very concerned about the quality of my skin. Thanks!

Many patients have increased visible blood vessels on their nose skin after rhinoplasty. Without photos or more information it is impossible to say what your problem is. It could be just increased vascularity, rosacea or something else. Most of these will not resolve with hyperbaric oxygen. From the time frame it does not sound like the skin died. There are a variety of topical medications that work for rosacea. Flashlamp lasers work well for increased vascularity. Your rhinoplasty surgeon should be able to address either of these issues or refer you for the required treatment.

Dear Gioa, You can always try some hyperbaric treatments to see if you have any results. Hyperbaric oxygen has multitudes of healing aspects to the body so even if you do not see changes in the discoloration of your nose it will not hurt. Certainly if you are having revision surgery then it can help with healing and oxygenating the tissues. Many times patients do a few treatments before and after surgical procedures to reduce bruising and promote faster healing. The exception is with rhinoplasty surgery. Due to the nasal congestion and inability to clear the ears it is not recommended post surgery for approximately six weeks or until your surgeon clears you.
