Penis Skin Swelling/Tenderness after Extended Tummy Tuck w/ Lipo of Flanks?

Thank you for your question. Six weeks post-op, some residual swelling and tenderness are indeed normal, especially after an extended tummy tuck with liposuction. The lower abdominal and groin regions are closely connected in terms of tissue layers and lymphatic drainage, so swelling and fluid accumulation from surgery can affect surrounding areas, including the penile skin. This tenderness, which may become more noticeable during an erection, is likely due to residual inflammation and fluid retention.

Swelling and sensitivity typically subside over time, often improving around the 8–12-week mark as the body gradually reabsorbs excess fluid. To support healing, it’s important to avoid activities that could exacerbate swelling or strain the area. However, continue to monitor your symptoms and discuss any concerns with your plastic surgeon at your follow-up appointment. They can assess the area directly and confirm that healing is progressing normally.

Hi, Thank you for your question. Congratulations on your surgery. At 6 weeks it is normal for you to have some swelling after a tummy tuck. Make sure that you wear your compression garment and limit your salt intake. I would follow up with your plastic surgeon just to be on the safe side. An in person exam is really the only way to know what is going on. I would schedule a follow up with your plastic surgeon.

Use of a properly fitted compression garment will help decrease the length and severity of the post-operative swelling.
