Nose silicone implant regrets 1 day post op, is it too quick to judge? (photos)

Question

I just had my nose silicone implant done 1 day ago and I feel disheartened about it that it looks ‘fake’. I’m so worried about how ‘fake’ it looks like to my friends and family. I feel that my nose is too upturned and I am so worried that I look unnatural. Was the job done alright? am I too sensitive or quick to judge? Will the swelling go down eventually and look more ‘normal’? I thank all Doctors for your honest opinions in advance. I appreciate it. :’)

You are extremely early in your recovery period and the nose is expected to be quite swollen at this point. The majority of the swelling will resolve in 3-6 months, and will continue to resolve as your nose heals for up to 1-2 years. 
You have not reached your final shape as the nose will continue to heal and reduce in size for up to a year. Once it does reach its final shape you may be more pleased with the appearance of your nose.

Assuming that you have had your augmentation rhinoplasty performed by a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon with vast experience in Rhinoplasty - you have nothing to worry about !  Assuming that a medical grade implant was used, we can expect quite a bit of swelling, bruising and transient distortion for the first 10 days following surgery, so I would not recommend that you slide into a panic mode until you are over at least the first 10 days.  Generally it will take about 3 months until you will get a clear idea where your nose will end up....so enjoy the healing ride for the next couple of months and only then reassess your nasal status.  Good luck to you and your new nose !!

Like many of the other doctors have said, it's too early and being 6 days now it's likely improved.  There is a tightness that occurs and it can rotate the nose upwards and also lift the sidewall of the nose.  That combined with swelling can lead to the line on the sidewall.  Natural is always the ideal and that's what I strive for in Asian Rhinoplasty as well as any aesthetic surgery.

This is very common due to swelling.  You need to have patience with your body as it begins to heal. The skin, bone and cartilage are all traumatized during surgery. Inflammation (swelling) is the normal response and will help your nose to heal and look beautiful in the end. If, one year from now, you are unhappy with your nose, then that is the time to think about a revision procedure. Right now, concentrate on other things you like to do and let your nose take its time to heal. I hope this helps.

You are WAY too early in your recovery to be concerned about results, although it is normal to be scrutinizing things as you heal. The degree of rotation (upturn) of the tip may be exaggerated by internal splints/packing and the normal swelling after surgery. If your surgeon is concerned about the tip rotation, (s)he would be the first to suggest to you if you need anything done to de-rotate. That is VERY rare in the early weeks after surgery. Your nose will go through a lot of changes in the coming weeks so please be patient and give your surgeon a chance to help you through your recovery. Most of the time these early observations have no impact on the final result and are part of normal healing.

I understand your concerns in this early postoperative period.  Unfortunately, it is too early to be able to judge your outcome at this point.  There is a tremendous amount of swelling right after surgery.  The swelling will begin to subside rapidly over the next few weeks and months; however, it will not be totally resolved to allow you to see the final appearance for 1 year.  I recommend following up closely with your rhinoplasty surgeon.  Good communication between surgeon and patient is very important to help alleviate some of your concerns.

Hi there. First post operative day is too early to assess the results. More over the pics you have uploaded are not enough to comment. However silicone implant for augmenting your dorsum would only increase the height of the nose and projection of the tip. There would be significant swelling in the immediate post operative period because of which your tip projection could be exaggerated and appear upturned. I recommend you to wait for minimum six weeks before you post your pictures for further opinion.

Swelling is normal at this time and is part of the healing process.  You must not judge the result at this stage so do not worry.  Your photographs show the same angle between your tip and upper lip before and after surgery so your nose has not been upturned.  Keep talking to your surgeon for reassurance.
