Is it possible to use both implants and fat transfer together to increase breast size?

TherecRe certainly surgeons who use both techniques.  I believe fat injections are worthless and would steer you away from them.

it is certainly possible to use both implants and fat grafting. This is determined by your presentation and your desired results. I will use this combination routinely in revision breast surgery. It is less common in primary breast augmentation but still possible.

Hi. Most people can obtain a natural result from breast implants alone, with additional fat not being necessary. Fat transfer adds signficant time to the procedure, and therefore cost. Fat transfer is usually used to correct long-term problems such as rippling and contour depressions following exchange of implants. Regards Charles Cope

You can certainly have both breast implants and a fat transfer to increase the size of your breasts.  Keep in mind however, that if these two procedures are being performed at the same time, the pressure from the implants may negatively affect the amount of fat take.  Depending on multiple factors such as: how much tissue you have to begin with, how thin your skin is, how much skin laxity you have, how large you want to go- you may or may not need both.  I do both procedures, but typically will stage these procedures if both are being performed so that the patient gets the best possible results.  You would be best served by having an in person evaluation and consultation so recommendations can be made.  Good luck!

Hi, Brazil2013.  It is possible to use a combination of techniques to achieve your desired results, but the best method will depend on your specific body type, current breast size, and desired breast size.  Natural breast augmentation is often achieved with implants alone as long as the surgeon chooses the proper implant.  Shaped breast implants do a fantastic job of creating a pretty, natural, and soft breast enlargement.  I would recommend a consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to see what is the best and safest technique to meet your goals.

but its not done frequently. Fat tends to be used to correct depressions and irregularities rather than to augment the breast. As doctors learn more about keeping transplanted fat alive, this may change.

It is definitely possible to augment with both implants and fat.  The main goal would be to augment the volume of the breast with the implants and then thicken the breast envelope with fat to prevent wrinkles, particularly if the thickness of the breast is less than 2 cm or so.  This is something I do regularly with excellent results and very low complication rates.
