How long till I look "normal" after under-eye filler? :( 31 yrs old

Hi I got under eye filler yesterday and woke up with more swelling under my eyes than yesterday--not a good look!! How long until I'll look "Normal"/not weird and puffy and can socialize without worrying that people are wondering what's wrong with my eyes/face?

Hi Just Me1111,

Great question.  Being 24 hours after your injection, swelling is completely expected and is in no way telling of your final result.  The swelling is due in part to the physical trauma of the multiple injections that were likely necessary, in addition to the acute histamine release and inflammatory reaction that occurs.  Over the coming 7-10 days the swelling/acute inflammation will decrease and the filler will also begin to absorb water.  You should give it at least 2 full weeks before judging the result or considering a change if you can.  Also, remember that the advantage of hyaluronic acid fillers is that they can be dissolved with a substance known as Vitrase.

Swelling after fillers under the eyes is very common. It can take up to 2 weeks to fully resolve. Intermittent icing or cold compresses can help. I use microcannulas in this area to minimize risk of swelling and bruising. Hope this helps answer your question.
