Tyndall effect or bruised swelling after injections? (Photos)

Question

I had my tear troughs filled two days ago, and I realize it is VERY early on to offer advice as of yet. I am curious what your thoughts are as to whether the puffs on the right eye look like a possible overfill or if this is normal at this stage in the game? Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for your question. It is still relatively early in the recovery process, and injections in the tear trough area are notorious for prolonged bruising and swelling. I would wait 2 weeks and if the bruising or swelling persist, you should follow up with the practitioner who injected you.

In the meantime, keeping your head elevated, minimizing over-exertion, decreasing salt intake, and gentle massage can all help speed recovery.

This early on it is hard to tell. It is likely bruising and swelling. If it's persistent after 1-2 weeks then perhaps it is fillers. Follow up with your injector. Best wishes

It's hard to tell at this point whether too much filler has been used or whether the filler has been placed incorrectly. You certainly have some bruising, swelling and lumps. Time will tell. Give it 7-14 days to resolve on its own. If at that point, it still looks abnormal, then I would suggest following up with your injector. If a hyaluronic acid based filler was used, it could always be reversed with hyaluronidase if need be. My preferred fillers for the tear troughs are Restylane and Volbella.
