I have olive skin tone & aware that photofacials aren't good on my skin type and are more suitable for caucasians. The doctor I went to told me that he was sure he could do an IPL on me so i trusted him. I left with a burning pain in face and the next day my skin looked like it was burned pretty badly. He won't admit these are burns and says they will go away with hydrocortisone but I need advice from someone else. I am terrified these are burns that will leave permanent marks on my face Help :(
Answer: IPL complication Hi there, it looks like the IPL hit you quite hard. This can be due to many factors including setting issues on the IPL and sun exposure and even medications taken recently. The good news is that you will heal over time as you do need a few months for your skin to return to normal. Use a good moisturizer and sunscreen. Apply zinc oxide and aloe to help the healing process and it will be fine. Thanks - T.Khan MD

Answer: IPL Burn? In my opinion the setting on the IPL was too high, you can see where the IPL actually sat on your skin and the pulse of light is where you are seeing the affected skin . Did you by chance go out into the sun or do you take medicine/supplements that cause sun sensitivity? Even running errands outside for a couple of days can be too much especially with no sunscreen. Sun/tanning bed 2 weeks before treatment can also casue sun sensitivity to IPL. You need to inform the office where you received treatment and get evaluated.
