I have one hooded and one “normal” eye, should I get eyelid surgery or Botox over my eyebrow to lift? (Photos)

My eyelids bother me because it looks like a have a lazy eye sometimes and i am a makeup artist so this is really annoying when I do my makeup and i have to struggle with one eye more. I get real self conscious so I want soemthing effective. What are my options?

This is upper eyelid ptosis with fairly symmetric eyebrows. There are eye drops that can temporarily lift the eyelid but are not a real or practical solution long-term. Surgical treatment of eyelid ptosis is the best way to go about it.

Thank you for sharing your question and photos. You do appear to have true eyelid ptosis of the right eyelid compared to the left. Although you can certainly try Botox injections, I don’t believe this asymmetry will be corrected unless you consider a unilateral upper blepharoplasty. For more information about this surgery, I recommend consulting with a board-certified facial plastic surgeon. He/she will be able to give you the information you need in order to make the best decision regarding your treatment. Ultimately, I think you will need to consider surgery for a permanent solution. This is profound upper eyelid ptosis.  The left side is worse than the right side.  Your ptosis is so bad that you hold your chin up to see out under the eyelids.  Please do not do botox, this will likely drop your eyebrows and worsen your situation.  You need bilateral anterior levator ptosis surgery.  This should be done under light intravenous sedation in an accredited operating room.  You need to be off work about 7 to 10 days.  At about 14 days, most people will not be aware that you just had a surgery.  Study my website which has a great deal of information about this type of surgery.  You also need your upper eyelid crease reconstructed and an anchor blepharoplasty to support your eyelashes.  This will help make your eyes your best feature.

You have ptosis of both upper lids. ON the left the lid is lower, so your brow is higher on this side as it tries to pull up the lid.  You will need surgery to elevate the lids, which will help to make the brow and the lids more symmetrical.  Botox will not help with the ptosis.  See an oculoplastic surgeon to evaluate the eyelid muscles and determine what surgery would be best for you.

Norahsque, I am assuming it is the left eye that is bothering you because this is where I see the issue.  The condition I see is called blepharoptosis as demonstrated by the upper eyelid margin touching the pupil, and an absent left upper eyelid crease.  This is most likely caused by disinsertion of the levator palpebrae superiorus muscle.  This muscle elevates the upper eyelid. When the tendon becomes separated from the eyelid margin, the eyelid is unable to raise in a physiologic manner.  A surgical procedure will most likely be required to remedy this issue.  Botox is not the solution for this issue.  I would recommend an evaluation by a physician trained in blepharoptosis repair, such as a facial plastic surgeon or an oculoplastic surgeon. Thanks for the question and photos. This appears to be true eyelid ptosis with asymmetry, representing a functional issue with your eyelid muscles. This causes the eyelid to look "sleepy" or droopy and prevents it from fully raising up. This is not likely to correct without a surgical intervention to reattach the torn insertion of your levator muscle or tighten it (there are different approaches). An oculoplastic (ophthalmology-trained) surgeon or plastic surgeon who performs ptosis repairs can help you. This is a FUNCTIONAL and not merely cosmetic problem with the musculature of the eyelid.

Thank you for your photo. It appears that you have both prominent eyes and droopy upper eyelids, possibly lax lower eyelids. It is important to have an in-office examination to measure and evaluate both sets of upper  and lower eyelids as well as the surrounding structures to determine the exact cause of your asymmetry and best treatment plan to improve your appearance.
