I hate my thin lips and want to get Permalip. What size should I get? (Photo)

Question

I have tried lip fillers and I loved how my lips looked a lot fuller but when the swelling went down you could hardly tell a difference. I'm self conscious of my smile because you can hardly see my upper lip especially when I don't have lipstick on. I'm not trying to look like a celebrity I just want more youthful and fuller lips. I would like to know what size lip implant to get.

You may be a candidate for a lip lift rather than repeating fillers.  A lip lift does 4 things: shortens the distance between your nose and upper lip, increases the mucosa of the upper lip, increases the incisor show and pulls up the corners.  Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

When you want permanent lip augmentation we can do fat, fascia, dermis, or permalip. That last one is a silicone roll that is very soft.  It comes up to 5 mm thick.  Always get the largest.  People are always happiest that way.  The smaller ones are too small to make a big difference.

i would suggest filler sand liplift over doing an Implant. always use lip plumpers and hydrators they really help the look and size of the lip too.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Dear mtd.0821,
I perform a lot of lip injections with fillers such as juvederm and it works great. Many times I need to put more in one side than the other to attempt to even out the vermillion border (The red line of the lip). This helps provide more symmetry at times.
For patients looking for a more long lasting result, I recommend fat grafting. That is, using your own bodies fat to make your lips naturally look more shapely. The bonus is that the results last many many years.
In general, I avoid using permanent prosthesis because I find that the lips are such dynamic and sensitive structures, the end result is not natural.
