I hate my Radiesse! Does it really last a year?

Radiesse is a stimulatory filler that is an excellent option for patients who desire a longer-lasting filler alternative to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. In our office, we use Radiesse to complement structural areas of the face and contour bony prominences. Our office also is a center of excellence for filler complication treatments and we see patients who have been treated by other doctors and have undesirable results from Radiesse or other long-lasting fillers. We have treatment options available for Radiesse filler nodules, granulomas, and soft tissue thickening. The first step would be to diagnose the nodularity and determine whether there is an option for surgical vs. non-surgical removal. Surgical excision is a possibility in some patients; whereas others with more diffuse fillers may benefit from intralesional therapy using scar modulators and enzymes and kenalog. Radiesse complications may be long-lasting and prompt action is key. Patients who have no access to an expert in the field should begin gentle massage of the areas of nodularity with Plato’s Scar Serum twice daily. RF and invasive lasers can actually do more damage by stimulating further collagen growth.

Thank you for your question.Radiesse typically last 6-9 months in my experience.  In some patients it can last up to a year, it really depends on how fast your body metabolizes it.  You can start massaging the areas of injections to help speed up the dissolving process.

Yes, Radiesse results can last 12-15 months. If you're unhappy with your Radiesse results, it can be improved with venus legacy treatments and 5/FU steroids. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

I am sorry you do not like your Radiesse.  While it is true that, on average, Radiesse lasts 12 months, you should notice it starting to go down in 6 - 8 months.  When your skin is warm (such as when you are in the shower), you can massage the area.  This may help it to go down more quickly.

Radiesse is an excellent filler for certain areas of the face. It does last longer then most hyaluronic acid fillers. One year is average it could be less sometimes more because people differ in their  metabolism.

Radiesse is one of the longer lasting products but because it is a calcium preparation its not chemically reversible as are the hyalurionic acid ones. That said it will last a year but will not be as full as today. I believe that around 6 months you will notice a reduction in overall size and that will continue to occur during the remainder of the year. At the year mark there will be Radiesse sitting on the bone but not nearly the volumeHang in there.

You are correct in that it will start to go away gradually over time as it is your native collagen that eventually will replace the injection. to make it disappear quicker you can have injections of cortisone into the area
