How much Radiesse is too much? I was 28 when I was injected with 9 vials of Radiesse between April-October 2015.

Hi CS.  Based on your age, it is very unusual to need that much product.  In some cases for very thin patients, we may use 4-5 syringes over a number of treatments.  If this much Radiesse is required your are better off with fat transfer or Sculptra as they will both last longer.  To see examples of very thin patients that have have had Sculptra injections, click on the link below.

Ok. This seems excessive, but what goals did you discuss with your practitioner and do you have serious atrophy for some reason? It sounds like you're uncomfortable with this volume, but if your results are good then what's the issue?Best wishes, Dr. ALDO 

Thanks for your question, but it is difficult to answer without knowing more about your case:  reviewing your images, considering your goals and expectations, and looking at your results.   But as it was years ago, it probably is not as important today.  If you feel that you still would like to consider enhancements, you should search out experienced Board Certified injectors and go on a few consultations.  Talk about your goals and discuss which fillers would be most appropriate and how many may be required.  Be sure to also consider alternatives to fillers such as fat grafting.  

The amount of Radiesse used can be variable to the individual and desired results, but that amount isn't necessarily excessive. However, if you're unhappy with your Radiesse results, it can be improved with venus legacy treatments and 5/FU steroids. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

There is no upper limit to the amount of Radiesse that can be injected over time, but the amount used will vary for each individual patient.  The number of areas being treated as well as the amount of depression in those areas would determine the amount that is used during a treatment.  I would not say that 9 syringes of Radiesse over the space of 6 months is excessive in treating the temples, cheeks, jawline and nasolabial folds, but that is more than would be used for other patients who were only having one particular area treated.  

Hello,Although all depends on what you wanted to achieve and if you achieved. The amount is not important per se.On the other hand, I am not sure if getting 9 syringes of radiesse was the best option available for you. Are you going to go through injections 12-18 months after? a photo would have helped to understand the situation better.If a patient of mine requires 9 radiesse syringes every couple of years I would definitely look into other options. 

9 syringes of Radiess seem too excessive at your age and frankly at any age.  If your face needs that much , you are better off with fat transplant. In my 25 years of practice I have never injected 9 syringes of Radiess to anybody.

The amount of filler required by each patient depends upon volume loss in an individuals face.  This sounds like a more than average amount of treatment.  Most use 3-4 syringes every 2 years if they are using only Radiesse.  Radiesse in temples runs out faster than the cheek area, perhaps that is the reason, but it is truly hard to assess without looking at a photo or face to face consultation.   

The amount of filler required really depends on the individual patient.  Without a photo, it is difficult to assess.  Some patients who are very thin such as avid runners will need a significant amount for full correction.  Ultimately, if you are happy with the result, you received the appropriate amount.  If you are not happy with the result, it would be worthwhile to get a second opinion.   

I have been injecting Radiesse for years and have never injected this much in a patient at a single visit.  You are only 28 and unless you have a birth defect causing issues in your face this is excessive and i suggest a second opinion and be sure you see a board certified dermatologist experienced in the cosmetic area
