Hello,It would be impossible to diagnose exactly what broke by a photo. Please come in for an in person evaluation to determine how to best straighten your nose and improve airflow.  That said, your injury could involve the nasal bones, the cartilaginous septum, or the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid.  General plastic surgeons who perform a lot of rhinoplasty surgery are just as capable as ENT and facial plastic surgeons at fixing this problem well.Best of luck!

Generally we try to reset nasal fractures within a week of the original injury.  This reduces the risk that the patient will need a much more extensive procedure six to twelve months later.The rhinoplasty should consider your breathing as well as repair of the nasal bones and any deviation of the septum.

Thanks for posting your photo.  It appears that your nasal bones are shifted, giving your nose a crooked appearance.  You are a great candidate for having this corrected with a rhinoplasty procedure.  What you are feeling in your nose is likely cartilage and / or bone.  You should see an ENT Surgeon / Facial Plastic surgeon to have this properly assessed and discuss options.

It looks like you suffered a nasal fracture and maybe a saddle nose deformity. You need to see a plastic surgeon for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

 A rhinoplasty procedure can accomplish straightening the crooked nose. To straighten the crooked nasal bones requires osteotomies placed in them. The midportion of the nose is straightened with cartilage grafts, such as a spreader graft. If  the examination of the internal portion of the nose reveals a deviated septum, a septoplasty can be considered if you have failed medical management for nasal obstruction. You "in-fractured" your right nasal bone. This is leading to a "c-shaped" deformity, with the nose appearing to curve to the left.  This fracture is fixed by a facial plastic surgeon or ENT physician. As your fracture is 1 year old, there is no need to delay further in getting this repaired.

Broken noses are very common in the sporting arena, particularly contact sport. Fixing them is all about timing. Putting the bones back into place without making any cuts (closed reduction of the fracture) may be done right away or around 1 week after the incident. A cast is placed for another week. The nose continues to heal over the next year.A broken nose that has already healed requires more attention in the operating room. Incisions or cuts may be made to get into the nose. Osteotomies or controlled bone breaks may also be needed to adjust bones that remained pushed in or out. If you are having trouble breathing through your nose, there may be more to the surgery to help you breath better. If you want to change the shape of your nose to make it look straighter and smoother, that's a rhinoplasty. A cast is placed for a week. The most important part is after the surgery. Over the next year, your surgeon can follow your nose and make sure it heals properly before it's set again. Keep in mind, the goal is to improve your current nose, not to get your original nose back. As your nose is already healed, take the time to select a surgeon who is well trained in nose surgery and takes the time to answer all of your questions.
