I am 18 years old but plan on getting my surgery done at 19. I have always hated my nose, it is too wide especially when i smile it is also so flat it takes up my face and I hate the way it looks in pictures. I was wondering if my nose is capable of doing my nose as any of the pictures so that it is smaller.I chose women with circular/heart shaped heads as mine.

Answer: My nose is too wide and flat. Is my nose capable of achieving circular/heart shape nose? You are an excellent candidate for cosmetic improvement of the nose and the areas that concern you can be realistically improved. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on two dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best surgery. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon with extensive ethnic rhinoplasty experience certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, M.D., FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Rhinoplasty candidate for wide, flat nose Yes, you are a good candidate for a rhinoplasty procedure. To accomplish your goals of narrowing a wide nose, a tip rhinoplasty can be performed to narrow the wide tip. An alar plasty involves removal of small wedges of skin at the base of the nostrils to narrow wide nostrils. Osteotomies of the nasal bones are required to narrow the bridge line. To help with the flat bridge, is also important to raise the bridge with patient's own cartilage grafts harvested from inside the nose and placed on top of the bridge line.
