Got hit in the face with a tennis ball after 5 years post open rhinoplasty. I am five years post op open rhinoplasty. Last night I got hit in the face with a tennis ball and my nose looked and felt swollen. It’s now the next morning and it still hurts a little and still looks very swollen. Should I be concerned even after 5 years?

Trauma to the nose because of variety of issues such as a displaced nasal fracture, a non--displaced nasal fracture, a dislocation of the upper lateral cartilages off the nasal bones, and a deviated septum.  After receiving trauma to the nose, it is probably best to see a double board-certified ENT/facial plastic surgeon evaluate the internal and external portion of the nose.

Dear Sara, Sorry to hear about your tennis ball incident. Trauma to the nose is best diagnosed with an in office visit to either your surgeon or a surgeon around you that can perform an intra nasal examination to provide you with a proper diagnosis.
