How can I fix my hooded eyes? (Photos)

For as long as i can remember i've had hooded eyes. Ive tried all the 'makeup tricks' and tips but nothing seems to work. A lot of my friends have also commented on it and i just dont feel pretty anymore because i feel as if i look tired and mad all the time. Is there a way that i can fix my hooded eyes?

You are still attractive despite your hooded eyes, so please don’t feel badly about yourself. Your eyes would look more alert and you would probably feel more confident with an upper blepharoplasty to remove the excess fat and skin and reshape the lids. Please be sure to find an expert facial- or oculoplastic surgeon to help you. I hope this helps.

For significant improvement, hooded eyelids require surgery if there is enough skin. For nonsurgical treatments: Radiofrequency (Thermage or Venus Legacy/Viva), injectable fillers, and a Botox brow lift can help contour the eyebrows and lift the eyelid skin. An upper blepharoplasty would give you the contour you desire.  I would go to a facial plastic surgeon that would take a very conservative approach with you.  It's always good to meet with a few to make sure the surgeon understands what you're trying to achieve. Be well and good luck!

Thanks for the question and photos. It looks to me like you may have mixed ethnicity? Asian or part-Asian patients often have an incompletely developed upper eyelid fold which can make the lid look heavier. Alternatively, you may also have a low forehead, which may appear to be excess eyelid hooding but is in fact the forehead resting on the eyelids pushing them down a bit. A very careful exam in the office is necessary to precisely figure out the contributions in your case.Having said that, eyelid skin that is excessive and hooding over the lids can easily be removed under local anesthesia in the office, which can refresh the eye appearance and "uncover" the upper eyelid region.

Thank you for your photos. Excess skin and fullness can be removed from your eyes with surgery for a brighter and refreshed look. Hooding can be attributed to both too much skin and fat, gland, or other tissue components of the eye which can make eyes appear heavy or tired. Your request is a very common one, and that is having upper eyelids that give you a tired, sleepy  and not alert appearance.  To improve this situation is to remove part of the upper eyelid skin called a blepharoplasty.  The surgery can be done under local anesthesia and can give you a alert and bright appearance, but it should not be overdone.

Full upper eyelids are a hallmark of youth.  As we age we lose some of the fat that keeps the skin up and the eyelid droops more.  Removing the appropriate amount of skin (I emphasize "appropriate") and no fat removal in my experience can keep the fullness but permit more show of the lid itself underneath. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon and ask him or her to demonstrate what this might look like on you
