when i was a little kid I was in a dog bite incident where my right bottom portion of my lip was "shredded" as i like to refer to it, and every since this i have noticed that my left eye looks droopy and uneven. Can this be the cause of the scar left on my cheek or a boney eye socket? I notice it and i get stares from others which makes me feel very uncomfortable, I feel so ugly and i want to fix both my eye and my lip, but this post is about my eyes only.
Answer: Eyelid ptosis Your left upper eyelid appears droopy (ptosis) causing the asymmetry, which can be improved with eyelid ptosis surgery. So filler injection will not help. It is best to see an oculoplastic specialist for evaluation.

Answer: Upper lid You do have an asymmetry to your upper lids with the left upper lid being droopier than the right (ptosis). This can be surgically corrected but you need a complete evaluation by an eyelid surgeon (oculoplastic surgeon) who will perform a complete exam and determine the best technique to approach your problem.

Answer: Cheek and lip scar unlikely to be related to droopy eyelid It appears that you have ptosis in your droopy eyelid. This can be fixed with a couple of different outpatient surgical approaches depending on the results of an eye muscle examination. A board certified plastic surgeon familiar with eyelids can take of this for you as well as offer treatments to improve the scars of your cheek and lips.

Answer: Drooping eyelid from scar? I do not think that the drooping in your eyelid is related to the lip injury, unless your eye was injured by the dog at the same time when you were a child.Try looking at some old pictures and see if you always had a droopy eyelid (which I suspect). If this is the case, you have congenital ptosis, which is pretty common. The treatment is surgery and in some cases can be covered by insurance (if it interferes with your vision). I would not recommend any injections.

Answer: Solutions for a droopy eyelid Hi Roxana,The scar on your lip and cheek can be treated in a number of ways and a facial plastic surgeon can talk through the details of different options with you. With respect to your eye, at least in the pictures you provided, it looks like you may have a true ptosis, or drooping of the eyelid itself. This would not be the cause of a scar on your cheek but it can be caused by trauma to the eyelid and eyelid muscle itself. Whether it is in fact a ptosis can be confirmed by a thorough eye examination. If so, this is best treated with a ptosis repair surgery and can have beautiful results. This type of surgery is most often performed by an oculoplastic surgeon (an eye surgeon specializing in plastic surgery of the eye area). You should seek out an in-person consultation with a qualified specialist in your area for an exam, so he or she can best advise you.Good luck in your search,Jason Litner, MD
