Experiencing light headedness, dizzyness, and nausea 5 days post Botox, how long do flu-like side effects last?

My first day I felt a bit foggy and headachy, but fine right after. Now 5 days later, I have begun feeling nauseas, light headed, and dizzy, and I see that others have also experienced flu-like symptoms post Botox as well. How can I tell if these symptoms are related, and if they are, how long can I expect these side effects to last?

Nausea symptoms related to Botox will set immediately after injection and typically do not last longer than 24 hours. You're recurring symptoms may be related to Flu or another type of infection. I would advise following up with your primary care physician. Best, Dr. Anil Shah

Hi MB. Usually if a patient reports headache or flu like symptoms after a neurotoxin like Botox, Xeomin or Dysport, it's immediate, in the 24 hours after injection.  In your situation, with the time lapse in between, this would not likely be related.  Best to you.

This isn't a typical side effect of your Botox treatment and may be unrelated. If it persists, I recommend following up with your Doctor. It will take 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. Best, Dr. Emer

While some patients occasionally experience headaches immediately after Botox, flu-like symptoms 5 days after an injection are not a side-effect from the treatment.  If your symptoms persist, I would recommend scheduling an appointment with your doctor.
