I appreciate your question. Coolscultping as a non-invasive procedure gives you 2-25% reduction in 3 months. This is permanent. It may require an area to have more than 1 treatment, but this is all done while watching tv or working from your computer in our office. PAH is very rare, less than 1%. There aren't any risk factors to look for, but is simply treated with liposuction. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery. Best of luck! Dr Schwartz
The patented cryolipolysis technique developed by Zeltiq to eliminate unwanted fat bulges is very safe. However, a very rare side effect is paradoxical adipocyte hyperplasia (PAH), in which more not less fat actually develops in the treated area. I’ve seen this only once in 6 years in which the patient developed a golf ball-sized area of fat after CoolSculpting. We know this tends to occur more commonly in men in the lower abdomen, although it can occur anywhere. It shows up a few months after CoolSculpting. At the present time, we really don’t know the factors that trigger this side effect, so I cannot tell you how to avoid it. Fortunately, it is very rare and it is treatable. Should it develop, we can treat it through traditional liposuction, injection or other non-invasive fat removing devices.
Although diet and exercise will help you get the best out of your CoolSculpting results, it will not prevent the risk of getting paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH). The cause of PAH is unknown. However, it is very very rare. We have done thousands of CoolSculpting treatments and have never seen a true case. Make sure you find an experienced provider to minimize your risks of complications. Best wishes.
PAH after coolsculpting is very rare and there is no single identifiable cause. Overall good diet and exercise is good to maintain the results of coolsculpting but for PAH since we don't know the exact cause its hard to say if good diet or exercise will prevent that completely. The good thing is its very rare.
The occurence of PAH is extremely rare and unfortunately the cause is unknown. However, maintaining a healthy diet and exercise before and after Coolsculpting is recommended to get good results. Keep in mind, some people need more than one treatment of Coolsculpting and for best results with Coolsculpting, I recommend a combination approach. I recommend adding radiofrequency treatments like Vanquish, Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra for skin tightening and with Z wave/Cellutone for skin smoothing to improve your final results. See an expert. Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia (PAH) is an incredibly rare occurrence after CoolSculpting. There is no known indication for why it occurs in patients, and therefore diet and exercise may have no preventative effect. We have personally never seen an instance at our office to date.Diet and exercise are excellent strategies to maximize your CoolSculpting results! At Imagine Body Sculpting we like to think of diet and exercise working from the inside out, and CoolSculpting working from the outside in to reduce subcutaneous fat. Using both tools together makes a very happy marriage so to speak, which will help you get the most out of your body transformation. As for PAH, we recommend getting CoolSculpting from an experienced physician who can best assist you in the rare instance that side effects like PAH occur.
cocolemonn,The instances of paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) is very rare. The new Advantage applicators have reduced the instances of PAH even further. At this point, the etiology of PAH is unknown and there is currently no evidence that diet and/or exercise would influence the instances of PAH. Diet and exercise will however complement your CoolSculpting results and offer the best possible overall outcome.Be WellDr Scott Gerrish - CoolSculpting University East Coast Medical Director
PAH is very rare and studies have shown its occurrence to be 1/20,000, with a sightly higher prevalence in men than women. With that being said, maintaining a healthy diet and exercise program before and after coolsculpting can help you get the best possible results from your treatment, and is recommended. There is no indication that diet and exercise will prevent or reduce the chance of developing PAH.
the cause of PAH is unknown . There is no way to determine who will get it or will not get it . Fortunately the occurrence is rare and reported 1 per 20,000. Exercise and diet will not affect possibility
From your photograph, it is hard to see any type area of deformity you are discussing. CoolSculpting will not cause hyperpigmentation. Did you follow up with the provider who did your first treatment to discuss your concerns? How much experience did this person have and how much...
However, if you have a current outbreak around the treatment area, you should wait until it is fully cleared up. Also, CoolSculpting is not recommended for those who have developed shingles from a herpes virus. First, talk to the physician who treats you for herpes to see if he or she has any...
Hello and thank-you for your questionThere is no evidence that Doxycycline which is a common antibiotic would have any effect when doing Coolsculpting treatments. I would visit with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to discuss what is best for you.Best of luck.
