I will be getting an endoscopic brow lift soon. I have a high forehead and my hair is thinning a bit. The dr. advised the incisions will have to be below my hairline and will be visible. I am willing to deal with the scar if it heals flat, and I can cover it with makeup. Will this also push my hairline back further even if the incisions are make below my hairline?
Answer: Endoscopic brow lift Great question. Everything needs to makes sense and be logical. An endoscopic brow lift will elevate your hairline. It is being pulled up! From the front view you see a higher forehead but the side view will show the recessed hairline. The other way would be to make a cut across the scalp hugging your hairline and pulling the hair forward and pulling the brows up, making the forehead shorter. The scar heals flat and may even heal to a point where you cannot see it without a magnifying glass, but sometimes you get a whitish scar which is flat but visible when the hair is pulled back. If you have questions postpone your surgery and talk it over with your surgeon. Your question is one of the key discussions to have with your surgeon.

Answer: Irregular Trichophytic Forehead lift with hairline lowering. Irregular Trichophytic Forehead lift with hairline lowering. Is what will solve your problem. We developed this operation 35 years ago and it will lower your hairline if you want unlike an endoscopic Browlift that will raise it. If properly done the hair will grow thru the scar and not behind it. Therefore makeup is not usually needed. See examples of the surgeons incisions.

Answer: Endoscopic Browlift Questions Dear MDLA27, I would suggest seeking a second opinion as the procedure you are describing does not sound like an endoscopic brow lift. With an endoscopic brow lift the incisions are placed in the hairline even on patients who have thinning hair the small incisions heal nicely. I had a male patient come in to my office last week very unhappy with a brow lift where the incisions were done below the hairline by another surgeon and personally I would never perform a procedure in that manner. See my web link below and review the photographs under endoscopic brow lifts for examples of this procedure to further educate yourself. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
