I had a modest BBL about 5 months ago. I am concerned that my dents/cellulite look worse than they did before. When I look at my before and after photos the defects are pretty much in the exact same place but seem more obvious now. Is this normal?
Answer: Cellulite Dear cnncnn,I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit a board certified plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Worsened cellulite after BBL Cellulites is caused by connective tissue bands that anchors the skin to your underlying muscle layers. This connective tissue is prominent in certain parts of her body. It is present in the palms of her hands, soles of the feet, the back of the thighs and butt. These areas require the skin to tolerate a lot of pressure. The skin on your palm does not slide around as much as the skin on the back of your hand. The reason for this is layers of connective tissue anchoring the skin to the muscle or fascia layer of the palm. Undersize and buttocks disconnect of tissue has a certain length. When the thickness of the fat perfectly matches the thickness of the connective tissue the skin is smooth. When more fat is added either through weight gain or fat transfer the connective tissue will pull down on the skin in certain areas. This is cellulite. Currently the most popular treatment for cellulite is called cellfina. And that's treatment the bands of connective tissue is cut from a vibrating thin Sharp object. The treatment is considered semi permanent. The FDA has given the company who makes cellfina authorization to claim the results will last for two years. I personally don't believe this to be an ideal treatment option because scar tissue which contracts will form and reconnect the connective tissue that caused the cellulite. Cellfina may be an option for you. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
