Got referred to an ENT and im waiting to go in for my apt. I just want my nose straightened back to how it was.. Will a septoplasty do this? or will i have to get a rhinoplasty from a plastic surgeon. My insurance only covers a few ENTs and they barely have reviews online. Is it an Easy procedure?

Answer: Rhinoplasty for broken nose, septoplasty for breathing Look for a surgeon who has dedicated a significant component of their practice to the field of rhinoplasty, since repairing a crooked and broken nose rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult procedures to perform in the entire field of cosmetic surgery. A double board-certified ENT/ facial plastic surgeon in your area should have extensive experience with these type of cosmetic and functional issues.

Answer: Fixing a broken nose Thanks for your question. Sorry that you broke your nose.Every broken nose is different. You need to be evaluated before anyone can give you a specific recommendation. It may be a good idea to look for an ENT who did a fellowship in facial plastic surgery or is a member of the AAFPRS. In general, a broken nose can be corrected between day 3-10 with a closed (incisionless) procedure. This works if the bones are broken and the septum (wall between the right and left nasal passages) is relatively straight. If the entire nose and septum is crooked, a closed reduction can be attempted, though has a high need for a second procedure. Most will advise you to wait 3 months for bones to set before attempting an open procedure so that there is a stable foundation from which to create surgical change.Very best of luck.
