The only way to be sure is to schedule a consult. If his nose is broken, it is often possible to straighten it in the office without surgery during the first 10-14 days following the injury.  If the nose has just been recently broken, it's best to seek consultation by a rhinoplasty surgeon to evaluate the damage to the internal and external cartilages and nasal bones. You should see an experienced rhinoplasty specialist soon. It may just be swelling. If treatment is necessary the displaced bone can be pushed back into place. Depending on your desires a rhinoplasty may be done but this is not likely. .
