One of my 8 year old saline breast implants has ruptured. I am currently breastfeeding a 2 month old and would like to get the other breast deflated because it is much bigger than the deflated breast and I would like to breastfeed for a while longer and then have the implants removed. Would a doctor do needle deflation for me while I'm breastfeeding? Is it safe for baby to breastfeed with the implant shells remaining in my breast?

Answer: Implant removal Dear jackie313, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination but that can be an option. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Deflation of Saline Implants Deflation with a needle is absolutely an option, this can be done safely and easily with a local anesthetic. The empty implant is no different than the full implant as far as its impact on breast feeding. Then when you are done breast feeding you can assess the breasts and plan for removal with or without replacement. Good luck, Jane
