I had Bell's Palsy 2 months ago.My face only looks asymmetrical when I raise my eyebrows and lift my nose, and it looks normal when I do not have any facial expression. I have a big eye bag on the side of my face that is affected by the illness.
Answer: Bells Palsy and under eye bags Yes, it is entirely possible that your bells palsy is behind your recent under eye bag. My advice would be to give your body the time to heal and then reassess your under eye bags in another month or two. If you still don't like the way things look, schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss using filler under the eye to reduce the "bag". Answer: Healing from Bell's Palsy I’m sorry to hear that you are going through this. From the sounds of it, your Bell’s palsy diagnosis was fairly recent, so it’s important to wait and give your body time to heal on its own. As long as you had taken the initial antiviral and steroid medication that was most likely prescribed, chances are you will make a full recovery naturally. Since your diagnosis was just 2 months ago, it’s possible that the changes that you notice in your face are due to your body going through the healing process. Often times, patients start to experience synkinesis which is a discoordination of the facial muscles, which could be what you are beginning to notice when you make certain facial expressions as you mentioned. I would recommend scheduling an appointment with a facial nerve specialist to establish yourself as a patient, and begin to explore your options for future treatment. There are very few physicians world-wide who specialize in helping patients with Bell’s palsy. I see patients with different types of facial nerve damage from all over the world, and would be happy to discuss the details of your case with you during a consultation. Best of Luck!

Answer: Can Bell's Palsy causes eye bag? YES Yes it can. The tissue that prevent the orbital fat prolapse thin out with age which results in under eye bags. That process is significantly advanced with Bells palsy since it affects the muscle.

Answer: Eye changes with Bell's Palsy Bell's palsy is caused by a latent herpes virus reactivation in a sensory facial nerve causing weakness of the motor nerve to the face. The ultimate recovery of the facial function is complete in 85% of individuals. You still have further time (4-10 months) for additional recovery of function. Bell's palsy causes drooping of the lower eyelid and inhibition of upper eyelid complete closure. Buldging of the eyelid could be do to the droopiness of the lower lid but would not be due to fat. Be patient for the complete healing to be achieved.
