Based on my photos, would a chin implant / chin augmentation be possible? (photos)

Without an exam your question cannot be answered. However, your photos are helpful and you are probably a good candidate for a Chin Augmentation. You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Here is some information to help you make this decision:Candidates for Chin Augmentation -Patients whose chin profiles are weak but have normally functioning jaws are candidates for Chin Augmentation. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. In our culture, a face is considered more handsome and masculine for males if one has a stronger chin. There are three ways of augmenting a chin. This can be through the use of fillers although these are temporary. Some surgeons perform sliding genioplasty in which the chin bone is shifted forward. This is a rather complex procedure that has some downsides including notching on the side of the jaw when it is brought forward which can be seen or felt in some cases after the surgery. The most common method is placement of a chin implant. Chin implants are most commonly made out of silicone and come in a number of shapes and sizes. There are several different configurations and most men would opt for a large or sometimes extra large implant if they have a significant proceeding chin. Prices vary from practice to practice. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia or more anesthesia including general anesthesia.

In my opinion you would be an excellent candidate for a chin implant.  Using a small incision just under the chin, I use a silicone type chin implant that is easy to place. I perform this chin implant procedure under local anesthesia and oral sedation. Consult with a few experienced board certified facial plastic surgeons.

Chin implant or sliding genioplasty will produce similar result (improvement) in your case. You may also consider augmentation of the lower jaw angle, at least based on your photos.You should seek a consult with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon for detailed clinical evaluation and discuss your options. A chin implant is a simpler procedure than a sliding genioplasty. Because of that I would favor the implant for you.  A similar result and possibly a little more projection than your altered image is typical.

Dear jailers, You are an excellent candidate for chin augmentation surgery. I would suggest a little more projection on the chin then shown in your morphed photograph and this would be discussed during consultation. Digital imagining  would be performed that would show you the proposed results and this would be further discussed with the patients input. I prefer to use a sub-mental incision under the chin. Chin augmentation with a chin implant or a sliding genioplasty will definitely improve balance in your lower face and jawline definition. I would recommend the placement of a chin implant because it is a much simpler procedure.

  Hi, I have performed many chin augmentationsusing chin implants for over 30 years.  from the photo your chin is quite weak.  A weak chin creates an imbalance
making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lower face appear
shorter which de-emphasizes the shape and fullness of the lips. Chin
augmentation, using a chin implant, will add projection to the chin creating
harmony and balance to the lower face. I have found placing a silastic chin
implant through a small, curved, incisions under the chin to be very safe,
quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty that
requires bone cuts with placement of screws and metal plates. Following the beauty principles outlined in my book on face and
body beauty, male faces look ruggedly handsome when there is angularity in the
cheeks, chin and mandibular angles. In addition to chin augmentation,
cheek augmentation with either a dermal filler or cheek implants (for a
permanent enhancement) will add angularity to the cheeks. Mandibular
angle augmentation with a dermal filler (jaw implants IMHO have too many
unwanted side effects) will add volume, angularity and flare to the jaw line.
