Belotero Balance, which possesses little to no chance of giving rise to the unwanted, bluish Tyndall Effect when injected superficially into delicate skin, is my first choice for treating smoker's lines in my Upper East Side Manhattan office. (In my Israel satellite facility, where a far greater number of regulatory agency approved fillers are available, Teosyal Redensity II is my go-to product for this region). The results of filler treatment when properly performed are immediate and usually quite gratifying. However, should some residual etched-in lines persist, as may be the case in very long-standing sun-damaged areas, subsequent medical microneedling can help to further smooth and blend the treated areas. Unfortunately, I have become less enamored with the results of the more expensive fraxels or radiofrequency treatments often suggested for treating this region.Be sure to consult with a board certified aesthetic physician and ask to see his/her before and after photos.
