Is atrophy and discoloration due to kenalog injections permanent? (Photo)

Question

I had kenalog injections to dissolve some fillers over a month ago and now I have discoloration and 2 dents. I had fillers to fill in the dent but 3 weeks later the dent is back. Is the kenalog still dissolving my skin a month later?

this often improves on its own, but if the dose was very high then it wont.  You will need microneedling and/or fractional lasers to improve the scars.  I suggest bellafill, sculptra and/or silicone to give a permanent improvement.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Atrophy and discoloration from Kenalog can improve with time. Most often this depression and thinning of the skin will improve over 2-3 months if it is going to improve at all. The problem with trying to fill this area now is that you do not know how it is going to improve over time. Given your history with Kenalog you might consider hyaluronic acid based fillers in the future as they can be removed with hyaluronidase as opposed to steroids if needed.
