Age 62, no kids, recently lost 61 pounds. In my early '40's, I weighed slightly more than I do now, but I had a perfectly flat stomach then. In fact, I had liposuction at 41 because I couldn't get rid of stubborn saddlebags and at that time I asked the PS about also doing my stomach and he said, "no, your stomach is perfect. We will leave it alone." I would like to lose 5 to 10 more pounds, but not sure it would make a difference with the appearance of my stomach.

Answer: Is 62 too old for a tummy tuck? Your age is certainly not a contraindication to having a tummy tuck. There are a number of factors that are more important: Your general health, individual anatomy, realistic expectations, and a full understanding of the benefits as well as the potential problems that can occur with the procedure. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. If you decide to undergo the procedure, I would suggest a medical clearance from your primary physician before proceeding with a tummy tuck.Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Tummy tuck 62 is hardly old. Today I’m turning 61, I have performed tummy tucks in women quite a bit older than you. If your health is good there is no problem having it done.
