These tests are important to perform if your doctor is concerned about your blood clotting. If they are abnormal, that needs to be completely explained and corrected prior to surgery.
Thanks for your inquiry, it is best you first ask your primary doctor to explain why you have these abnormal lab values. If you have an underlying medical problem that can be corrected that should be your first priority. Next discuss with a surgeon if your condition can be managed well enough to have an elective tummy tuck, good luck.
Since these tests indicate that your clotting mechanism is off, you are at much higher risk for bleeding. When a patient of mine has abnormal lab results, I refer them to a specialist who can thoroughly work them up to figure out what’s going on. In your case, a hematologist would be able to give you more info. And, based upon that info and any possible treatment options, you could discuss with your operating surgeon if you are still a candidate for a tummy tuck. Hope this helps!
Dear dward2017,no board-certified plastic surgeon will have a surgery if the patient has abnormal PT, aPTT or INR results.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Thanks for your question. As you may already know, these lab values represent your blood's ability to clot. If they are abnormal, then you are at a much higher risk of having bleeding complications during and after surgery. In my opinion, these values would need to be normal before undergoing any elective surgical procedure.
I will be alarmed if someone thinks it is safe to perform a Tummy Tuck with abnormal results of PT, APTT and INR. Your risk of uncontrolled bleeding is higher than normal.
I actually recommend neither one for they are expensive, messy and my patients have not been compliant using them. I recommend ScaRxtapedotcom which is inexpensive. You place it on the wound and need to change it about once per week! Make sure you use it for at least two months!Dr. Edward Jonas...

You may well have an undiagnosed seroma. The seroma needs to be drained from below and it should resolve in a week. It needs the gravity to help in drain from below otherwise it will persist.
