I'm getting invisalign and was wondering if it's better to complete the treatment prio to a face lift procedure. Your input would be appreciated
Answer: The mouth area is preserved during facelift procedures, so undergoing Invisalign® or other braces will not affect facelifts Thank you for your question. You state you’re 46-years-old and wonder if you should complete your course of Invisalign® before having a facelift. I can help you with this as a facelift surgeon.A little about my background — I’m a Board-certified cosmetic surgeon and Fellowship-trained oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, practicing in Manhattan and Long Island for over 20 years. I specialize in cosmetic eyelid surgery, face lifting surgery and hair loss treatment, and I certainly think that this is a very good question. A facelift is really about restoring the relationship of sagging skin with the underlying structure of the face. We lift sagging cheeks, restore jawline definition, and improve the angle of the neck, so your teeth should not have that much of an effect on it.When I perform facelifts, I preserve most of the center of the face, particularly around the mouth, so that there is no distortion or pulling effect. The teeth should not have much of an impact on the soft tissue involved in the facelift, so you can certainly have the procedure and continue your Invisalign® treatment without it having a negative impact. In fact, you could have other intraoral procedures done, such as cheek implants or a buccal fat pad reduction, and teeth alignment should not be an issue. I also perform facelifts under local anesthesia with LITE™ sedation, which essentially means that I’m not concerned about doing anything that could affect the position of the mouth because there is no need to place tubes in the patient’s mouth. For surgeons who do use general anesthesia for facelifting surgery, affecting the alignment of the teeth should not be a concern either, especially when an anesthesiologist puts a tube in your throat, as they are very mindful of protecting the teeth. That said, I can certainly see no reason why you can’t have a facelift while having Invisalign® treatment. I suggest that you meet with qualified and experienced cosmetic surgeons who perform a lot of facelifts in order to gain more insight and perspective on this.I hope that was helpful and I wish you the best of luck!

Answer: Orthodontics in facelift-what's the preferred order. I don't really think it makes any difference. They can even be done fairly close to one another. Make certain the orthodontist as well as a plastic surgeon know what you have planned.

Answer: Should I have invisalign treatment before a facelift? Often patients who are getting Invisalign are doing so to address relatively minor dental problems, rather than more major upper or lower jaw repositioning. If this is the case, then the timing would not be critical. You may prefer not to wear the Invisaline devices for the first two or three days after your surgery, while you are in the early stages of recovery. Best Wishes

Answer: Invisalign before facelift? In general, this should not affect things. Only major orthognathic changes, such as through surgery, would be considered something to give pause.

Answer: Invisalign Invisalign can be done during the time you are having the facelift done. No need to have one completed before the other.
