Is it normal to have only one side of Labia completely black and blue and extremely swollen after a tummy tuck?

Swelling and bruising can happen anywhere near the suture from your surgery, or resulting from a tight binder being worn. I would say to give the bruised and swollen area a day or so to clear up, and then if it continues you should contact your PS personally to discuss the type of compression garment in use, where it is placed, and if anything else might be causing this specifically.

It is not uncommon to have asymmetric healing and/or bruising. However, I would definitely recommend that you inform your surgeon who may or may not want to assess your situation in person. Best, Dr. Nazarian

It is common for labia in women and the scrotum in males to become bruised, black and blue, after a tummy tuck. The simple explanation is that even a few drops of deep blood move down fascial planes with gravity and lymphatic flow to this area. It will resolve in most cases rather promptly. Check with your plastic surgeon to make sure this is the case with you.#tt#tummytuck

The garment is supposed to be tight, but it sounds like it might have been worn poorly.  While it is true that the problem could be from the operation and bruising is not always symmetric, I would show your surgeon and make sure you take care of that.Good Luck!

Thanks for your question and congratulations on having your surgery.It is not uncommon to have asymmetric swelling and or bruising.  The labia may have been outside the garment or there may have been more bleeding on one side.  Either way, you should inform your surgeon and have them take a look just to make sure.Best of luck.Dr. T

be related to liposuction or active bleeding into the area. Make sure that it
does not progress to worse in a short period of time.

Labial bruising after a tummy tuck is a tale tell sign of some bleeding after surgery. Some oozing after surgery is common but severe bruising of the genitals may be an indication that there is more bleeding than normal. You should visit your doctor to get examined and make sure the bleeding has stopped and isn't progressing. The gential bruising will improve with time. Good luck!

One side or both sides of labia can have bruising and swelling if you had liposuction of the mons.It would be best to talk with your plastic surgeon to be examined in-person.Best regards.
