6 weeks post-op I have really hard tissue still feels like gland on the left lower outside of left nipple, doctor says it’s not tissue tells me to massage it but that just irritates it and seems to make it worse, other side is completely flat, I did have the drain in on that side for a whole week due to excessive bleeding but how could scar tissue form that fast? It’s only noticeable when I put my hands up and sticks through my shirt.
Answer: Question After Gynecomastia Surgery Hello, and thank you for your question. (Keep in mind that an in-person consultation is necessary for the best advice.) It is still early after your surgery. Swelling often takes 3-6 months to resolve. Scars (inside and outside) develop and then soften with time. The swelling/prominence may improve. Be patient, and follow up with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck! Matthew A. DelMauro, M.D.

Answer: Hard tissue after gynecomastia surgery I am sorry you are having issues in your postoperative recovery but keep in mind that 6 weeks is still very early after surgery. Although you may have discomfort when massaging it will help to desensitize things as well as help with scarring. Continue to follow your plastic surgeons recommendations and be patient. It should improve in the next few months. Best of luck.
