Hello, I've had gynecomastia surgery about 3 months ago. I did everything they advised me to do. 2 months after the surgery, I went back to the surgeon for a check up because I felt some irregularities, (scar?) tissue and puffy tissue. The puffy tissue below my left pec muscle causes my nipple to retract because it pushes against the scar and is higher than the muscle. It also disrupts the lining of the muscle. He was dismissive and unprofessional, in my opinion. Do I need revision? Thanks!
Answer: Gynecomastia Revision Hi, I am sorry for your complications after surgery. Although from looking at your pictures, it is possible that you will need a revision surgery, however, I would recommend waiting a full 6 months post op to move forward with a revision. This allows time for all of your original surgical swelling to settle so that your surgeon can see exactly what needs revising. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Need for revision after gynecomastia surgery You appear to have a crater deformity involving the areola as well as probable residual excess tissue in the lower pole of your breast. At three months, I doubt if things will improve. However, you should wait until a minimum of six months has elapsed before considering revision surgery. You should return to your surgeon, if possible, for an opinion. But you should also consult with at least two other board certified plastic surgeons who have considerable expertise in gynecomastia surgery. For further info about gynecomastia revision surgery, please consult my website on the topic (captioned below).Good luck!Elliot W. Answer: Swelling after male breast reduction surgery vs. gynecomastia needs a physical exam It is very hard to tell what might be causing puffiness after gynecomastia surgery in pictures because swelling is so common ay 8-12 weeks after surgery. The reason for "second hit" swelling after gynecomastia surgery in this time period is because the patient starts a new phase of wound healing called the remodeling phase at this time point. The patients usually have initial swelling then the swelling improves and then they get swollen again. It is important for the plastic surgeon to do a physical exam and determine if this is what is going on. There is also the possibility of gynecomastia tissue, hematoma, seroma, lymphatic fluid, scar tissue and many other tissues to cause the puffiness. It is important to get an answer from a plastic surgeon through a physical exam of what exactly is going on.

Answer: Gynecomastia Good Afternoon and Thank you for your question, Yes you will need a revision procedure because that has been over excision of the underlying breast tissue leading to a scar fixation of the nipple to the underlying chest. You will need more than one session of fat injection to restore the symmetry of the nipple. Thank you, Best Regards, Dr Amit Gupta
