How long will it be until I can go back to dancing and doing my normal activities after a breast reduction?

ok so i am 15, 5'2", and about 126 lbs. i am having a breast reduction during sometime this summer. i go back to dance in mid september, how long will it be until i am able to go back to dance and be fully recovered? also whats the smallest i can be put down to? i am a 34DD.

Thanks for the question. After 6-8 weeks your surgery area is totally healed and yes you can dancing and also do other activities. I wish you all the best.

Congratulations on your decision to undergo a breast reduction.  At your young age, and with the activities that you enjoy, I imagine that your large breasts are making exercising and dancing difficult. Most likely, you will be able to return to dancing and all of your normal activities after 4-6 weeks.  I recently had a 19 year old patient who is now able to enjoy ballet dancing again after her breast reduction. Discuss how small you wish to be with your plastic surgeon and make sure you both have the same goal in mind. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the  question. Congratulations on your decision to proceed with breast reduction surgery;  it is one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform (given your active lifestyle, it is likely that you will be very pleased with this decision).  In regards to size achieved, best to communicate your goals with your plastic surgeon. I would suggest that you not base your communication on achieving a specific cup size; this type of communication can be quite confusing. In my practice, I prefer the use of goal pictures and/or computer imaging.Generally, it is best to follow your surgeon's  guidelines in regards to return to activity/ exercise. Most of my patients are able to return to  strenuous activity  some where between 4 to 8 weeks after the breast reduction surgery.I hope this, and the attached link, helps.  Best wishes.

Post-operative instructions vary from surgeon to
surgeon. During your consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, you
will be informed of what the procedure entails as well as the recovery. Once assessed, he or she will be able to
advise you on what you can expect for size.  I have my patients take 1 full week off of work with limited
activities.  No work outs, dancing, heavy
lifting for 1 month.  Be sure to speak
with your surgeon directly with respect to this and be sure to follow his or
her instructions carefully to ensure your best possible result.
