BR 3 months post op, ITCHY ITCHY INCISIONS! Why? (Photo)

Itching is fairly common along the incision in the convalescent phase. From the redness of the incisions picture active inflammation is present. Don't scratch the skin. This trauma will aggravate the situation by the release of histamine. Ice packs are cool compresses for symptomatology will help.

Healing dermatitis or reaction to deep sutures. Best to follow up in person with your surgeon or dermatologist... 

You can certainly use topical anti-itch cream but I would also advise returning to your plastic surgeon for followup.  There is always concern re wound contamination.  I would also recommend the use of steroid tape to reduce the scar hypertrophy.

It is not uncommon to have itchy scars at 3 months post breast reduction. Topical benadryl cream or benadryl tables should help, but check back with your surgeon before tarting any new medications.  Best wishes Dr Lepore.
